The Man Behind the Keyboard

I'm Nick — Cat Dad, Web Designer, and Professional Cat Video Connoisseur

I'm based in 🐾and I've been running CrazyCatVid.com since 2009 — which makes me one of the original cat content creators on the internet. Honestly, I was on Twitter posting cat content before it was a whole industry. You're welcome, internet.

By day I'm a web designer. By night I'm fully at the mercy of four cats who have very specific opinions about everything I do. Minnie Mouse judges my design choices. Stripes has claimed every warm surface in the house. Penelope auditions for the camera constantly. Luna runs at full speed into walls at 3am and I've just accepted this.

What started as a personal Twitter account sharing videos of my cats turned into this site, a YouTube channel, and a genuine obsession with finding the best cat products on the market. Because I am constitutionally incapable of not nerding out about things I care about.

Every litter box, toy, food brand, and gadget on this site has been vetted by my actual cats in my actual house. No PR packages reviewed without disclosure, no fake five-star reviews. This is just a real cat household sharing what works and what's a waste of money.

Minnie Mouse

Queen of the Household. Her schedule, her rules.

Minnie Mouse is named after the Disney character for her tuxedo coloring and her unmistakably dramatic personality. She rules this household with an iron paw and has zero interest in your schedule or feelings. She will sit in exactly the spot you need to sit in. She will wake you up at 4am for unclear reasons. She will accept affection on her terms only — which are highly specific and will not be explained to you.

Despite her imperious demeanor, Minnie Mouse is also the most photographed and most recognizable face of CrazyCatVid. That tuxedo coat photographs beautifully, which she knows, and it goes directly to her head.

Penelope is the most famous cat in this household by pure metrics — she has racked up over 200K YouTube views and is, objectively, more famous than me. She hosts "Feline Facts with Penelope" on the CrazyCatVid YouTube channel and takes her role extremely seriously. Show business is in her blood.

Her on-camera technique is impeccable: she holds still, makes direct eye contact, looks profoundly intelligent and thoughtful... and then yawns at the most dramatically wrong moment possible. Every time. The audience loves it more than they love anything I do. I've accepted this.

The Chill One. Don't let the name fool you.

Every chaotic household needs a Stripes. While Minnie Mouse is plotting world domination, Penelope is rehearsing for her close-up, and Luna is at full sprint somewhere in the dark, Stripes is just... being cool about everything. The name is on the nose — those tabby stripes are unmistakable — but the personality is anything but predictable. Stripes has mastered the art of being perfectly placed in whatever warm, comfortable spot just became available.

He's the kind of cat who makes guests say "oh wow, that cat is so chill" while casually knocking a full glass of water off the counter two minutes later. Perfectly harmless. Deeply suspicious. Absolutely lovable.

Luna is unpredictable in the way only a tortoiseshell can be. She has what the internet calls "tortitude" — which is a real thing, documented by actual science, and means she is ferociously independent, wildly unpredictable, and intensely loving on her own timeline. Luna operates purely on vibes. There is no schedule. There is no logic. There is only Luna.

She runs at full speed at 3am for no discernible reason. She has strong opinions about everything I own and considers most of it hers. Her favorite toy is anything she's specifically not supposed to have, which keeps things interesting around here.

Why I Started CrazyCatVid

I started this site in 2009 because I was already obsessing over my cats online and figured other people probably were too. I was right. What I didn't expect was how much the internet needed an honest, personal, no-corporate-BS cat resource.

Most cat product content online is either brands talking about themselves, affiliate marketers who've never met a cat, or aggregated reviews with zero personality. CrazyCatVid has always been something different: one real cat household, sharing what actually works, with the receipts to prove it.

No corporate interests. No fake reviews. Just real experiences from a real cat household since 2009.
