I have a Litter-Robot 4 in the laundry room and a Litter-Robot 5 Pro in the hallway. Same litter, same four cats, same house. After months side by side, here is the plain answer on whether the 5 Pro is worth $200 more.
The short version
Buy the 5 Pro if you have two or more cats and want to know which cat is using the box and how often. The cat ID and health alerts are the whole point. Buy the 4 if you have one cat, or you just want to stop scooping and do not care about per-cat data. Both clean the same.

Where the 5 Pro earns its price
Cat ID that actually works. The 4 guesses by weight, and Minnie Mouse and Penelope are within a pound of each other, so the 4 constantly mixed them up. The 5 Pro camera identifies them correctly nearly every time. When Penelope's visits jumped last winter, the app flagged it two days before I would have noticed. That was a urinary issue caught early.
WasteID. The 5 series knows whether the deposit was liquid or solid and adjusts the cycle. In practice the drawer smells less than the 4's, even with the same deodorizer pods.
Night vision. Mostly a novelty, but useful when a cat is acting off and you want to see what happened at 3am.
Where the 4 is still great
It cleans identically. The globe, sift, and drawer are proven, parts are everywhere, and it has years of firmware fixes behind it. If you have a single cat, the extra data from the 5 Pro tells you nothing the 4's usage count does not.

My recommendation
Two or more cats: 5 Pro, no hesitation, because the per-cat health data is the earliest warning system you can buy. One cat, or budget matters: the 4 is the best value in automatic litter boxes and you will not feel like you settled.

Slightly. Both are quiet enough that my cats ignore the cycle. The 5 Pro has a smoother motor sound.

Can I use my Litter-Robot 4 accessories on the 5 Pro?
